An employer-aligned lab for the populations most systems struggle to move at speed.
iVETS is a live-hardware AI and emerging technology training environment built to help colleges and workforce boards serve high-priority populations through accelerated, applied pathways. We do not replace the college or the board. We give regional partners a technical lab, class engine, and employer-connected implementation site that can support existing workforce plans.
Our classes are designed for populations that already sit at the center of public funding and accountability frameworks: transitioning servicemembers, veterans, foster youth, survivors of domestic violence, reentry participants, and neurodivergent learners. Because those groups are already prioritized by colleges, workforce systems, and public agencies, iVETS can function as a practical bridge between funding eligibility, technical training, and placement outcomes.
The Populations We Serve
Transitioning Service members
Active-duty military in their final 180 days, leveraging DoD SkillBridge to build civilian careers before separation.
Veterans of Any Era
Post-service veterans looking to pivot into technology, especially those who have struggled with traditional classroom environments or who carry service-connected challenges.
Foster Youth Aging Out
Young adults 18–24 who aged out of the foster system and need a career track, not another program that runs out of funding before they graduate.
Survivors of Domestic Violence
Women and families rebuilding after leaving abuse, who need financial independence fast, and who deserve a credential that won't remind them of what they survived.
Reentry Populations
Formerly incarcerated individuals, especially veterans routed through the Veterans Treatment Court, rebuilding careers after release.
Neurodivergent Learners
Autistic adults and those with attention, processing, or sensory differences whose pattern-recognition and systems-thinking strengths are in demand across AI, cybersecurity, and data analysis.
Funding That Follows These Populations
Every population listed above qualifies for California's Student Centered Funding Formula supplemental premium, meaning partner community colleges receive more per student for these populations than for a traditional student. Every one of them also qualifies for the federal workforce funding streams that WIOA boards and America's Job Centers of California already manage.
iVETS exists to bring those funding streams into a single, accelerated, employer-connected pathway.
How iVETS Supports Regional Partners
- Provides short-cycle technical training in AI, cybersecurity, IoT, and adjacent emerging technologies
- Offers hands-on instruction using live production infrastructure
- Creates a pathway for participants who cannot wait for traditional academic timelines
- Supports sector strategies in logistics, defense, enterprise systems, and digital operations
What This Means for Colleges and Boards
- A partner site for Strong Workforce-aligned innovation
- A class model compatible with WIOA and AJCC referral pathways
- A practical option for serving populations tied to supplemental and priority funding categories
- A training-to-employment story that is easier to explain to employers, boards, and public funders
If your institution or board is building regional pathways in AI and emerging technology, iVETS can help turn those plans into operating classes.
